ASSESSMENT
The
Brief
In teams of two or three, research and determine the feasibility of
one idea for a collaborative creative project that involves digital media and
industry.
The client will be a department within TAFE and their students. Each
group will be assigned an area.
Collaborate with a TAFE department to produce a digital media marketing
strategy to promote their department. Your project could be used for:
publicity of courses, documenting or recording a lesson, advertising an event
or function, etc… BE CREATIVE! And Listen to your client.
The time limit for digital media final product: 1-2 mins (think of it
as a ‘commercial’ or snippet of information). You will need to be very
precise and create clear outcomes and objectives; including a storyboard.
Write a project brief to cover all aspects of the project. Liaise with
the group you are assigned to develop your brief.
Identify all parties involved
in the project and what they will do.
Be specific with your
outcomes and what you want to achieve.
Design and present a design solution or proposal, including your
research and justification, with the intention of ‘selling’ your ideas to the
client. Invite your client to the presentation, or set up a time for you to
discuss your solutions with your client and provide feedback (Assessing
teacher must be present).
Presentation requirement: Your presentation will be no longer than
10mins, including response/question/feedback time. (See below for details)
Journal
Each week keep a reflective diary of what happened and what this means
to you, your team and the project. Include comments on what went to plan,
what didn’t work and why, what you will do next and how you will go about it;
this includes relationships as well as activities. You can include planning
and mapping documents, images, contacts, research, and anything that assists
you in the project and collaboration. This record will assist you in
completing your report and should be an accumulated body of information
throughout the semester. At least 20 pages.
Ethics
& Legalities
Explore and discuss potential ethical dilemmas and situations with
your team in the context of your collaborative project and document the
process over the time of your collaboration. Consult legislation to inform
your decisions and document your resources for reference.
Prepare a written report on decisions made as group. Use legislation
to back up your claims and decisions. (lists can be utilised)
In your report, address challenges and resolutions around: Plagiarism,
Intellectual Property & Copyright.
1000 words (per student)
Contractual
agreement
In your team, research and prepare a contractual agreement for all
parties to sign.
Documents you will require are:
Authority to publish (TAFE)
An agreement of client / parties involved
Anything else that arises you are to research & resolve
Work
in a team
Throughout this course you will be observed working in a team by your
peers and teaching staff. You will complete an appraisal / evaluation of the
progress of your team and the members in it. This will be shared and
discussed with the class.
Submit: Peer evaluation, self-evaluation.
Assessment: Teacher evaluation
Presentations
You will have two opportunities to present your ideas to the class
& your client.
1: As a team, make a presentation to sell your collaborative project
to your client. Presentation is everything, ensure it is professional, dress
the part, ensure your technology is working, that your images and storyboard are
professional; you address the audience in a professional manner and allow
them to ask you questions, including addressing any potential flaws in your
plan.
10mins presentation. (includes question/feedback)
2. Present your final solution to your client and class. This will be
the finished digital media 1-2minute snippet. Design a feedback sheet for
your client to complete. Maximum 5 questions.
10mins presentation. (includes feedback)
Evaluation
& reflection of participation
Write a 1000 word report detailing and discussing your experience and
observation of others throughout the different stages of the collaboration.
(TIP: use your journal)
Address these points:
1. The team’s challenges, breakthroughs, successes, failures, key
learning, relationships, ways to do it differently in the future.
2. Your own challenges, breakthroughs, successes, failures, key
learning, relationships, ways to do it differently in the future.
1000 words (per student)
WHS
1. Risk
assessment – on the job
Before you begin any work on this project, in the first meeting with
your client or visit to the location, do a WHS risk assessment! Complete a Work Health Safety risk
assessment for all areas of your
proposed collaboration.
2. Implement
a WHS strategy
Using your risk assessment, in your team, discuss and design a
strategy to implement a WHS plan for a safe work environment.
3. Submit
a list of references from the current WHS legislation validating your risk
assessment.
